Harry John (Jack) Woodlands was the son of Harry Preston and his mistress Lily English. He was their second child, and Harry’s first and only son.
Harry used the alias ‘Henry Woodlands’ on Jack’s birth certificate. It’s not known for sure why he chose the name ‘Woodlands’ but from Jack’s birth onwards, Lily and her children became known as the Woodlands family.
Jack married Christina Henser at the Church of St Michael and All Angels in the Parish of Kensington, in December 1923. They had two children together; Ron and Brian.
