After serving around five years apprenticeship in the hospitality industry running pubs in London, Harry was ready for bigger and better things. Around 1887 when still in his twenties, Harry left London to establish himself in Bournemouth. It was there he began the career in the hotel trade which was to lead to his establishment as a man of substance.
